Daydreamcast: Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly (2003)

In the scariest time of the year there’s strength in numbers, so Murph and Brogan bring on not one, but two guests to help them get through cult classic horror game of the seventh gen: Crimson Butterfly. Said guests are game journalists Will Borger and Thomas Wilde.

It’s an in-depth episode talking about the strengths of the PS2 era of games and how it was such an experimental time in horror. A time between Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil 4 that seemed dominated by Japanese developers looking to deliver cerebral horror. Fatal Frame II stood out with mechanics that forced players to confront the specters of the cursed dead head-on, and a narrative where the path to freedom might just come at the cost of who you hold most dear.

Also, rare for a DDcast episode, we’ll be talking about various contemporary releases such as Spider-Man 2, Mario Wonder, and the upcoming Tekken 8.
