We’ve got 21 questions and they’re all about 50 Cent. Backed by Aftermath, Half Dollar emerged as a ready-made action hero, worthy of his own biopic. Crafting songs around the strengths of Dr. Dre and Eminem’s production arm, 50 made tight jams that were respected both in the clubs and by true hip-hop heads. It was a potent mix. And while he never got back to that initial hunger and gritty highly produced sound, 50’s first effort looms large over a whole generation of music. Awarded three letters at XXL, we try and work out whether the album is worthy of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame. Now it’s our turn: we’ll review the album or die trying.
